Mark Ready for Unicorn-backed Triathlon
Three Unicorns will be giving it their all on Sunday (9 June) as director, Mark Jones, is joined by two mates being sponsored by Unicorn Training in this year’s Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research Blenheim Palace Triathlon.
The Unicorn-backed trio will compete in the ‘Sprint’ category of a 750m open water swim, 19.8km cycle and 5.4km run in the race in the stunning surrounds of the Oxfordshire palace.
This is the first full triathlon Mark has tackled since beginning a new fitness regime about a year and a half ago. He hopes six months of hard graft preparing for the race will pay off.
Mark said: “About 18 months ago I decided I needed to get healthy, so I joined my local Virgin Active gym in Chelmsford, got myself a personal trainer and really started working hard, particularly through spinning, punch classes and swimming.
“Last October I did an indoor triathlon at the gym, on the treadmill, exercise bike and in the pool, but then I needed a new challenge and target. A couple of my mates who work for AON and Morgan Stanley said they were doing the Blenheim Palace triathlon and why didn’t I join them? So we put together a tailored training programme for the event and here we are!”
Mark and his mates will be decked out in their Unicorn-branded competition gear for the event, so if you’re heading down there too, look out for our logo and give them a cheer!
Over 7,000 people are set to take part in the biggest ever Blenheim Palace Triathlon for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research over two days this weekend. The Blenheim Palace Triathlon sold out of general entry places in record time this year.
