Unicorn gets double E-Learning Award nod
Senior Instructional Designer, David Gristwood, has been nominated in E-Learning Designer of the Year category for his work in leading Unicorn’s award-winning ID team in a range of innovative and sector-leading projects over the past 18 months.
Meanwhile, Unicorn is also up for the Outstanding Learning Organisation award in the year in which we celebrate our 25th anniversary.
David has worked at Unicorn for almost 10 years and has been shortlisted primarily for his leadership of Unicorn’s Santander UK projects in 2012-13, whilst also considering his pivotal contributions to other recent projects including for Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) and the world’s largest insurer, AIG.
Although effective instructional design is increasingly a team activity with writers, designers and developers sparking off each other, David has provided the leadership to ensure every team member is involved in a project from initial brainstorming, through storyboarding and detailed instructional design to final delivery.
He always ensures the Unicorn approach is reflected in the solution to provide practical, effective learning – substance with style.
Watch David discuss how Unicorn’s ID team avoids the pitfalls of style over substance and addresses the challenges of keeping up with technology.
The Outstanding Learning Organisation award recognises companies with strong, continuous results achieved over a sustained period in the learning, development and technology industry.
In 2013 Unicorn celebrates 25 years of continuous and profitable growth. Having started life in 1988 as a partnership comprising our three founders with one computer between them, we now have over 75 full-time employees with offices in Bournemouth and London and satellite operations in the USA and India.
Yet while Unicorn is now a bigger and more complex company than when we started, we choose to remain a small business in terms of our culture and are proud of our history and contribution to the development of technology-assisted learning.
The 2013 E-Learning Awards take place at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square on Thursday 7 November. View the full shortlist here
